Spiritual distress is a complex and multifaceted issue, especially in marriages.

If your husband is under a spiritual attack, it’s essential to understand what this means and how you can help.

When you think my husband is under spiritual attack, it generally means he is experiencing some life issues that might have spiritual connections.

The situation can be very frustrating as it can manifest in diverse ways and can cause despair, confusion, anger, or anxiety.

It’s crucial to know that spiritual attacks can be revealed in physical symptoms such as fatigue, lack of focus, loss of hope, and sleepless nights.

Spiritual attacks can be challenging and complex if you find yourself in a condition where your spouse is under attack.

First, it is crucial to know that there is hope.

With devotion to faith, hope, prayer, and community support, you can pull through the enemy attacks and restore your husband to his good form and sound mind.

Before we discuss solutions, it is only suitable to understand the factors behind a spiritual attack to make informed decisions about improving the situation.

1. Religious crisis

A religious crisis, also known as “faith crisis” or “spiritual crisis,” is a sudden or gradual loss of faith in a religious system.

It is caused by several factors, which include experiencing a traumatic event, discovering new information that contradicts one’s belief, having doubts about the teachings of faith, etc.

Religious crises can be a difficult and disorienting experience. It may lead to anger, disappointment, and loss of faith.

With all these, spiritual attacks can be triggered.

2. Life changes

Some life changes trigger spiritual attacks. Life issues like divorce, loss of job, chronic illness, hardship, etc., can affect one’s spiritual life.

These changes make us question our beliefs and lose hope, which might give the devil a chance to attack us spiritually.

3. Existential crises

These are intense questioning and reflection periods, often triggered by significant life events or changes.

Existential crises can lead to spiritual distress as people struggle to find meaning and purpose in life.

These crises can raise questions like “What is the meaning of life?” or “Is there a higher power?”

4. Social Injustice and Systemic Oppression

For example, consider someone who belongs to a marginalized group and has experienced discrimination or injustice because of their race, gender, sexuality, or other characteristics.

Cases like this can lead to feelings of anger, sadness, and impotence, and it can also lead to questions about the purpose and meaning of life.

This type of distress is often described as “existential depression.”

5. Financial Crisis

Debts, Financial stress, and spiritual distress are closely linked. Financial stress can leave one with worries, anxiety, and even despair, leading to spiritual weakness.

Focusing on spiritual growth can be challenging when we’re overwhelmed by financial concerns. Some people may even question their faith when they’re struggling financially.

They may ask themselves, “Why is this happening to me?” or “Does God not care about my financial situation?” These questions can create a lot of spiritual distress.

13 Prayers for protection when my husband is under spiritual attack

If you notice any spiritual attacks in your marriage, it’s vital to seek God’s guidance and wisdom on how to fight back against the enemy’s attacks.

Remember that prayer is the key, and a closed mouth is a shattered destiny.

You can see your marriage restored with prayer, faith, and willingness to take action.

1. A Prayer for Spiritual Empowerment

“Dear Lord, I pray for my husband, who is experiencing a spiritual attack. I ask that you give him strength and resilience to overcome this challenge.

Please help him to find comfort and peace in you and to draw on your strength. May he feel your presence and know you are with him through this difficult time.

I ask that you give him peace and the ability to find joy in life, even in difficult times. Thank you, Lord, for your love and care. Amen.”

You can also back your prayers with Bible verses. The book of Ephesians 6:10-18 is known as the ” Armor of God “.

It reads, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and the strength of his might. Put on the full armor of God so that you can stand firm against the schemes of the devil.”

2. A Prayer of Wisdom

“Oh Lord my God, I ask that you give my husband the wisdom and the spirit of discernment to resist the powers of the evil ones. Please help him to be alert and use divine wisdom to win this battle. Amen”

Ephesians 1:17-18 is an excellent verse to use in this case. It reads, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.”

 3. The Prayer of St. Patrick

The Prayer of St. Patrick is considered a prayer of protection. It is said to have been written by St. Patrick, a 5th-century missionary and bishop credited with bringing Christianity to Ireland

The prayer is addressed to God, asking for protection from evil spirits and other dangers.

It begins, “Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me, Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me….” The prayer then asks for protection in various areas of life, such as work, home, and travel.

Psalm 91 can be used to back up this prayer point. It begins, “Whosoever dwells in the shelter of the most high shall abide in the shadow of the almighty. I will say to my God, ‘He is my refuge and fortress.”

4. A Prayer for Strength

“Dear Lord, I pray for my husband’s strength and endurance as he deals with spiritual attack.

Please give him the strength to stand firm in his faith and the physical and emotional strength to resist these attacks.

I pray that you will give him the confidence to know that you are with him and will never leave or forsake him. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen”.

In this case, check out 2 Corinthians 12:9-10. In this passage, Paul writes, “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and difficulties.

For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Paul reminds us that we can find strength in God, even when we feel weak or vulnerable.

5. A Prayer of Compassion

“My Lord in heaven, I commit my husband unto thy hands. I ask that you give him a kind and loving spirit. Give him the ability to love others just as you love him.

Take away every spirit of hatred from him and give him a compassionate heart; in Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.”

Luke 10:25-27 (parable of the good Samaritan) is a good passage for this prayer. In this verse, Jesus tells the story of a man who was beaten and left to die.

Several people passed him, but a good Samaritan saw him, helped him clean his wounds, and paid for him to stay in an Inn until he recovered.

Always do likewise to others.

6. A Prayer for God’s Healing and Restoration

“Heavenly Father, I pray that you heal and restore my husband. May you touch him with your healing hand to return him to normal. Please do not allow him to remain in this condition forever.

I ask that you destroy the powers of the devil and render them useless.

Whatever they will send against him will not affect him. Thank you Lord for answered prayers; in your holy name, I pray, Amen.”

You can use the Book of Psalms in this prayer because it contains comforting words.

You can use Psalm 23, which reads, ” The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want…..You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…”

7 . A Prayer to Break Curses on my Husband

“Dear Lord, I pray that you break every curse, spell, or hex placed on my husband. I ask that you deliver and set him free.

I pray that whatever curse is placed on him will not affect him. I ask that you deliver him from every evil utterance or deed.

Deliver him from every fear of oppression that has been placed on him. In your holy name, I pray, Amen.”

2 Timothy 1:7 says, ” For God has not given us a spirit of timidity but of power, love, and discipline.”

8. A Prayer for Spiritual Growth

“Dear Lord, please guide my husband in his spiritual journey. Please help him to grow closer to you and to find strength and comfort in your Word.

Guide him with your wisdom, and allow him to find peace and contentment in your love. Please use your Holy Spirit to work in his heart and mind and guide him. Amen.”

John 14:26 can help you in this prayer. It says, ” But the helper, the holy spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.”

9. A Prayer for Exposure of Evil About My Husband

“Dear Lord, I lift my husband unto you. I pray that you expose the evil ones and their plans against him, for I know that whatever is revealed is reversed.

I ask that you show the truth to him and shine your light on any darkness or confusion to help him accept the fact; in your holy name, I pray, Amen.”

You can use the book of Psalms, full of prayers that ask God to expose evil deeds and bring justice.

For example, Psalm 7:9 says, “Bring to an end the violence of the wicked and make the righteous secure—you, the righteous God who probes minds and hearts.”

10. A Prayer for my Strength

“Dear Lord, I ask that you strengthen and empower me to help my husband sail through this situation. I ask that you help me be a source of strength to him and encourage him more and more.

Please do not allow me to grow weary of the situation and abandon him. Lord, help me to always stand by him and offer him wise counsel. In your holy name, I pray. Amen”

The book of Psalms is an excellent place to find Bible verses to support a prayer for strength.

Averse often used for this purpose is Psalm 28:7, which says, “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song, I praise him.”

This verse affirms that the Lord is your strength and reminds you to trust him. When you trust in God, he helps you and gives you joy.

11. A Prayer of Faith

“God, please help my husband to keep his eyes fixed on you, even with this spiritual struggle. May he know your presence and your love, and may his faith grow stronger each day.

I ask that you help him to keep trusting you and increase his faith in you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

There’s a whole chapter in the Bible that talks about faith – Hebrews chapter 11 – often referred to as the “Hall of Faith” because it highlights the dedication of various people in the Bible.

You can use this chapter to back up your prayer of faith for your husband.

12. A Prayer of Demarcation

“Dear Lord, I pray you to put a boundary between my husband and those evil spirits, for you said in the book of the Bible that light and darkness have nothing in common.

Therefore, I ask that you break every chain that binds him and them together. I pray that you break every evil covenant that he has with them. In your holy name, I pray, Amen.”

2 Corinthians 6:14-15 is an excellent passage for this prayer. It reads, “Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. What partnership has righteousness with iniquity?

Or how can light have fellowship with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and Belial? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever?”

13. A Prayer of Forgiveness

” Heavenly Father, for all have sinned and fallen short of your glory. I ask that you forgive my husband in any way he has sinned against you.

I pray that you wash him clean and forgive all his trespasses. Lord, do not look at his sin; wash him as white as snow. In your holy name I pray. Amen”

Several Bible verses talk about forgiveness, some even including prayers about forgiveness.

The most well-known is the “Lord’s Prayer” from Matthew 6:9-13. In this prayer, Jesus teaches us to ask God to “forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”

We all face spiritual battles in our lives, and sometimes, our loved ones are the ones who might be struggling the most.

If your husband is under spiritual attack, the best thing you can do is to pray for him. Ask God to protect him, to give him strength, and to fill him with peace and joy.

You can also support him by listening, encouraging, and reminding him of God’s love.

My husband is under spiritual attack situation is a condition that most women have encountered and sailed through. If those women can flow through, then you also can.
